The title Sunny Expectations just sums this piece up perfectly. The energy and cheerful tone of the image just sets it apart. There are always high hopes in the oilfield that everything will go as planned. The idea of a clear and beautiful sunset or sunrise to welcome in the morning and ending out the day makes it hard not to smile. This sunset seems to go on forever the yellow tones so bright and cheerful you can almost feel the sunlight on your skin. Then the mood in the air and the energy it brings just makes me take a pause to be thankful.
The sunrise in West Texas is just as cheerful. However, catching the energy and exact moment can be challenging. The perfect timing it takes to catch the sun creeping up out of the darkness. Sometimes the rays seem to stretch so far and are so bright that capturing the vastness is the difficult part. The colors that greet us some mornings are so vibrant that even the camera can pick up some of the display set before us. The trick here is getting this magic across in the images. In Sunny Expectations, I really felt a sense of accomplishment and joy.
